Reduces Allergies, Not Comfort, July 23, 2009 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Aller-Ease Premium Comfort Allergy Pillow Encasement w/Dupont HMT (Kitchen) I purchased this pillow cover because it blocked out the most allergens (including mold, pet dander and other things). Most pillow covers just block out dust mites.
I was a bit concerned that because the pillow cover was woven so tightly and had the Dupont material that it would be very uncomfortable - more like a plastic pillow case than a fabric one.
I was very pleasantly surprised that it had none of the drawbacks I imagined. Not only does the pillow case work great to reduce allergies and is really easy to wash in the machine, it has a very soft feel perfect for pillows. The fabric is thick, but feels more like really expensive sheets than plastic. I have a very flat pillow so I can't really attest to the whether it flattens, but the pillow case is really not noticeable at all - besides it's allergen-barrier benefits!

Aller Ease products have four levels of allergen filtration with DELUXE being their best, followed by COTTON, MICROFIBER and ORIGINAL. I have no experience with anything other than their DELUXE pillow covers and I just have to rave about it!
First of all, I did not even realize that my pillow had a "smell" until I put the cover on and immediately realized something was "missing". I can't say I miss that smell at all (musty & old)... yes, I know, I should probably get new pillows, too. Any recommendations?
Research shows that any woven fabric WITHOUT a membrane (which makes it more breathable but not waterproof... breathable is a must if you are a hot sleeper) should have a pore size of LESS THAN 6 microns. My daughter who is 2 notcies everything new and she hasnt noticed that there is a cover on her pillow now. Great!
